In the beginning ...

Welcome to the first entry of my travel journal ... blogs are a wonderful way to document events that are  important and inspirational to you ... a nice way to reflect on awe-inspiring moments - a diary of sorts, of the 'best bits' whether they be dramatic or ecstatic.  It doesn't really matter to me if anybody reads it but if we have something in common and you want to come along for the journey, hop on here and there and enjoy the view ... and if you like what you see I would love to hear your comments and travel tips ...

Like so many people I love to take photos and these days with the amazing digital cameras anyone can take a great picture, I often stay on the auto setting ... I like to be spontaneous and in the moment so if there's a memory to be kept I do my best to capture it.  I don't have a lot of spare time to try new gear or play with effects as I have a few passions, one of them being botanical art...

That's where I started blogging and rather than crowd my art blog with travel stories and pics I figured I should start this journal  - hence the title 'New Horizons'.   So in the words of Mark Twain ...

"Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover."
--Mark Twain
